Manual Redaction Tool
Manual redaction is the default mode of operation for e-Redact. The user is able to select the 'Rectangle Redaction' or 'Scribble Redaction' tools and manually redact over sensitive information. After completion of the manual redaction the user is able to apply an exemption code to the redaction (i.e. a Freedom of Information Section 40 code which indicates that the information relates to Personal Information).

When to use Manual Redaction
Manual redaction is used within documents that have no structure or pre-defined standard format. In these instances the manual redaction tool excels in allowing the user to redact exact areas of the document and apply the appropriate exemption codes before generating the Redacted Copy and Audit Copy output files.
